Kayz, ur sounded better last tuesday, seriously, today overall sound wasn't very good. It sounded quite empty. Isit air-con too cold?

Anyways, hope ur can find back the feeling on tuesday, and play it out LOUD, but not neglecting the harmony in the band. Melodies, Counter-Melodies , all those, even the supporting bass, it may juz be "Bom Bom, Bom" all the way, it is still important to the band, if they were no bass but just melodies, it won't sound nice. SO, the lesson is LISTEN TO ONE ANOTHER WHEN U R PLAYING. DON'T PLAY LIKE NOBODY BUSINESS, sometimes, U r Loud, It doesn't mean that u r good. We may not have a very wide range of volume like Loyang, but , the matter is , Just be urself. Set a target for urself, and make sure u achieve the target!

Lets hope that tmr, I can get a more decent sound from your.

So peepo, did your enjoy the performance at NAFA? Hope that you remember not only the joy, but the things that you've learnt too. Such as advice from Mr. Marvin Khoo, Mr. Brando Tan and Mr. Ed Tan?
Don't forget that this is not the last performance you will be performing, we will still have other chances to perform elsewhere. So now, and after the holiday practice, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE spend time for your studies FIRST, then your music. Get a good results for your SA2 first, so that your parents would not disallow you to come for band practice. So that they will be happy for you. Because, i can say that holiday practice are fun! And Hard toooooo!! A reminder first, please try not to go for holiday in the early to mid november, and late december. Most probably there are practice in between in preparation for POP and SYF. In order for your to go for the Perth trip, we MUST get a silver, AT LEAST. If we can do even better, get a GOLD and smash the CO =P. I believe that you are able to do it, and MUST do it!

Dear Parents,
I'm sorry if my language will make you confuse, because i'm not very good in my English. However, i would like to say that, I'm very thankful to all of you for coming down on 3September2010 to support your children and the band members. Your presence at the concert hall have given the student a boost before the performance, and also pressure for them to do well too. I hope that you will support your children to go for Band. It is because if you support them, they would feel encouraged, and do even better. My mother had also given me the support. The feeling of the encouragement is something that money cannot give to me, it gives me a lot of happiness when time passes by. I know what your are worrying of, it is their studies. "As a student, Studies always come first, then music", this is what our conductor, Mr De, had emphasised on us almost everytime. I agree, thus, my main focus is always studies, however, when Band starts, my main focus will be in music! What i feel about Band is that the pieces that we've played always relieve my pressure from studies. Therefore, I always look foward for Band practices. Music from the heart is most pure, I hope that you will give your utmost support to your child who is in Band.

Band members, something to take note, all band members MUST pay the band fund by tomorrow okay? :D This is because your treasurer needs to do closing accounts at the end of the month so that he can also settle the claims made, people like the librarians whom photocopied the scores for you. I kindly seek this co-operation from you guys. Thanks.

To the librarians, if there are receipts that are not handed in yet, please do so, and if the receipt doesn’t state the title of the score, please write it at the back for clarification.

QMs please make sure that all members have signed and filled in the loan forms before they bring home their instruments.

Great job today, hope your also had enjoyed the performance, although you have to reach school very early, but i was happy that a lot of your came on time! Maybe some others were only late by a little bit, but overall well done! =D Enjoy your "last holidaY" now till next tuesday. Remember to watch the NDP on Monday, 5.30pm.

Trust me! i knw what u are going through coz i felt THE SAME WAY in SEC 1

i even CRIED in front of mdm loh, confessing to her that band is STRESS & blahblahblah

telling her that i wanted to QUIT coz i joined the band 2 MONTHS LATER than OTHERS!

of course i had A LOT to catch up... i was WAY behind. I dunno my scales-they were like my enemies especially higher notes! Moreover that time, my batch-ur current sec 3 seniors had to play pieces HARDER than what u're currently playing coz we were preparing ourselves for the National Band Competition (NBC) .

BUT

in the end, i decided to NOT QUIT coz it wasnt worth it

i mean I'VE ALREADY BOUGHT THE BAND UNIFORM!!!

If i were to quit, THE MONEY WOULD GO TO A WASTE!!!!!!!

So i just told myself to ENDURE & TRY MY BEST....

knowing that i was way behind, i tried putting effort to learn abt rhythms,key signatures,time signatures through videos frm youtube coz u cannot HIGHLY depend on ur seniors....

Finally after a year, in sec 2- all my worries abt playing my instrument were gone.

one good thing that i've learnt is NEVER GIVE UP!!!

I always remind myself of this quote:

"a FAILURE is someone who STOPS TRYING but a SUCCESS-er is someone who NEVER STOP TRYING EVEN IF HE/SHE has failed despite many attempts...."

So ask urself-Are YOU a failure?

FYI, do u knw that my friends from the uniform grp actually envys me for being in band even my twin?!

We get to try NEW THINGS such as NEW PEICES. PIECES U'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE IN UR LIFE!!! that is WAY BETTER than doing the same thing in uniform grps, dance or choir coz U get to PLAY these musics & not listen or dance to the rhythm.

one thing that i am feeling in band is- My section mates are the only people i'm more closer to than my friends coz being with them, i feel BELONGED!!!=D

if u have any problem, just come to me coz i've alrd went through it....;) if u need a shoulder to cry on, i'll be there coz crying makes u feel better. so pls dont quit!!! It is hard at first but u'll get used to it. but most importantly, if u want to improve,then come for band prac-DONT MISS A SINGLE ONE as each band prac is an important step to learn sth new & improve urself

Band listen up! I think that your did fairly well for today practice. Except that some articulations still not good enough. Hope that your can do better and help those who need help. =)

I'm utterly disappointed by the "guest", you give up so easily? Come'on, not everyone is borned a musician. What we do is practice, " Practices Makes Perfect". Although we might face some failures in between, we don't give up. We encourage each other to do well, improve as a band. You might feel left out when you can't play, but once you are able to play, you will definately enjoy everything with us! We get to choose what instrument we want to play, it is all by our interest. Did your forgotten the feeling when your get your instrument? Or rather your don't like it at all? Just tell us straight! And stop using "GUEST" as your name! After the six months this year, we had certainly improve some friendship, bonding between all the band members.
Sec1s, your really need to buck up uhs, JBF is not far away your know? Next year will be SYF, your are all WANTED FOR THIS EVENT!

I hope that all of you will stay in band until you graduate, or even continue after secondary years! Cos your won't know the disappointment in us when we hear that people want to quit.Thus, just continue to do well and STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE

Alrighty, people, good job today in your playing =) Your had somehow improve, quite happy with it. Especially the Sec1s, can see that your are making some effort. Seniors also did a good job in guiding them uhs. xD Although some parts were still not sounding very nice, but, overall, it is quite nice. But!! Your need to take note, your drills are horrible! What Mr Ghazali said today was true, we did not take the sectionals seriously. Hence, our juniors could not play well. So, shouldn't we do some serious reflection about our behaviour? Yeah, and performance is coming up in meantime, it is not very far far away, it is just NEXT WEDNESDAY! Did your realise it? Did your think before you act? Well, our behaviour mark us out as a NOT GOOD BAND. Do your want other people to say that we are lousy? NO! So, do something about it, if it is sectional, make sure you do it properly. If not, nothing will come out in the end. And, today attendance for senior band is horrible. Hope that something can be done. FULLSTOP. LOL

its last day of TIP tomorrow, so try to attract as many sec 1s as possible.
THOSE SEC 1s WITH FULL OF PASSION & THE MOUTH SUPER LIKE TO TALK ! LOL!

And oh ya, on friday, its FULL BAND UNIFORM!
put this into your brain 'friday wear band uniform'. Haha.
guys, please dont forget to bring your black shoes & super duper long socks.
As for girls, dont forget to bring your shoes & black stockings.
Those girls with no black stockings, you know who to look for, the UQM! (Syafiqah)
Lastly, everyone please remember to iron your band uniforms.
I want to see everything nice & neat. :D
